An article and photograph from the Courier and Advertiser November 1932 showing the chimney stack at the rear of the Main Building. The stack had a collar attached to it to increase the pressure of the water supply across the developing hospital site. Until the late 1920s, the pavilions, cottages and laundry were supplied by the original stack, the collar was added following the creation and opening of the Nurses Home/Ward Six and Ward Seven which stand west of the Main Building Pavilions. The stack was demolished during renovations to the Main Building in 1964. A new stack was built in its place, it still stands today.
